Learning about bowling was a joy. Academic learning camp had a fun all of it’s own.

We just wrapped up our second day of outdoor recreation camp at North Bend. We aren’t sure who’s having more fun… students or teachers! 😎 Some activities students have participated in so far include creek critters🪲, tie dye🎨, archery🏹, boating🚣♂️, tracks and scat🐾, rock painting🪨 and swimming🏊♀️. We’ve had our highest number in attendance this year with 130 students! This camp is so much fun for everyone. We can’t wait for the next 6 days!

This year’s summer academy has been full of the joy of learning. Thanks to all the parents that sent these great children to our summer academy. We have enjoyed working with them.

There is no shortage of creativity in the summer academy. These students at Harrisville Elementary have enjoyed learning about miniature golf. This lesson series resulted in the creation of their very own miniature golf course and getting to have fun golfing.

It’s Independence Day! Have a wonderful holiday!

Middle school students at the summer academy are having fun and learning. They’ve learned that germs are everywhere so good hand washing is ever so important. I expect we’ll see some hands getting washed much more often. They then used those clean hands for some creativity with building and shirt tie dying.

Ritchie County students involved in the summer learning academy had a wonderful trip to Discovery World in Parkersburg on Tuesday. What a great facility to have so close to us. Kids of all ages enjoyed the day.

Summer Academy is a place to learn and have fun doing it. These children had a blast with their balloon rocket lesson.

Learning becomes exciting when you tie it to real world experiences. That’s why these students at the summer academy are having a great time. They had the opportunity to make predictions about bowling pins, build bowling pins and even bowl with their very own pins.

Do you see the smiles on the faces of these children? That’s because they are having fun learning about bridges and bridge building at the summer academy. These children in Mrs. Marple’s STEAM class built bridges out of an unusual material, Spaghetti! It’s pretty amazing how many blocks their bridges held.

How do you get students excited about the Summer Learning Academy? Let them visit Mrs. West’s STEAM class and it is sure to do the trick. The series of lessons on bowling was not only engaging but educational. Students used science, mathematics, language, art and some technology skills as they learned all about bowling pins and bowling.

Students at Ritchie County Middle School are enjoying their time at Academic Learning Camp. They have participated in a variety of activities the past week. Go, Blazers!
