Jenner Stewart and Stella Robinson were honored at tonight’s Board of Education meeting as Ritchie County’s Golden Horseshoe winners!
The Golden Horseshoe is one of West Virginia’s longest-running academic honors, awarded to students who excel on a rigorous exam covering the state’s history, government, and culture. This tradition dates back to 1931 and celebrates academic excellence and civic understanding.
Congratulations, Jenner and Stella, we are so proud of your achievement and the way you represent Ritchie County Middle School!

We would like to congratulate the Teacher of the Year for 2026 Kiernan Cline from SES and the Service Personnel of the Year 2026 Becky Boley from RCHS!

Dear Parents or Guardians,
Students in grades 5-8 have been completing their GSA tests this week. If your child has completed both the Reading (5/5/25) and Writing (5/7/25) tests, you should now have access to those scores through the "Parent Portal".
Please note, up to 5% of test scores may be held by West Virginia Department of Education to be hand scored.
The instructions for accessing the "Parent Portal", including your child's unique Parent Portal access code, have been sent to your child's school email. If you need assistance in accessing this email, please contact your child's teacher or school Principal.
Students are working on completing their GSA Math tests today (5/8/25). Most Math scores should be visible tomorrow. If you have any questions, please contact your child's school.

We would like to thank all our school nurses for helping support and take care of our students. We appreciate everything you do for our students.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! We would like to thank all of our teachers for going above and beyond to support our students daily. We appreciate all your hard work.

🎶 Region II Honor Band Highlights! 🎶
Sharing some amazing moments from this past weekend’s Region II Honor Band experience!
Held in Wood County, students from 10 counties came together for two days of intense rehearsal and musical excellence - practicing Friday at Williamstown High School and performing Saturday’s concert at Parkersburg High School.
Our Blazers represented us with pride:
👏 Jaelyn earned 1st chair out of 6!
👏 Truett and Kensi placed 2nd and 3rd chairs out of 13!
👏 Isela secured 2nd chair out of 15!
They auditioned for chair placements, practiced all day Friday, followed by a half day Saturday, capped with a beautiful performance that afternoon. We are so proud of their dedication, talent, and hard work! 💛🎼

🎉 RCMS Students Represent at the WV Capitol! 🏛️
Two outstanding RCMS students, 8th grader Zoey Lamp and 7th grader Brooklynn Deem, had the incredible opportunity to serve as Pages for the West Virginia Legislature during the February session!
As Pages, these students got a firsthand look at how our state government operates, assisting lawmakers, observing the legislative process, and representing RCMS with pride. This experience allowed them to engage in civic leadership and learn about the impact of state policies on our communities.
Congratulations to our RCMS representatives! Your hard work and dedication to learning beyond the classroom make us all proud!
