Learning about bowling was a joy. Academic learning camp had a fun all of itβs own.

We just wrapped up our second day of outdoor recreation camp at North Bend. We arenβt sure whoβs having more funβ¦ students or teachers! π Some activities students have participated in so far include creek crittersπͺ², tie dyeπ¨, archeryπΉ, boatingπ£ββοΈ, tracks and scatπΎ, rock paintingπͺ¨ and swimmingπββοΈ. Weβve had our highest number in attendance this year with 130 students! This camp is so much fun for everyone. We canβt wait for the next 6 days!

This yearβs summer academy has been full of the joy of learning. Thanks to all the parents that sent these great children to our summer academy. We have enjoyed working with them.

There is no shortage of creativity in the summer academy. These students at Harrisville Elementary have enjoyed learning about miniature golf. This lesson series resulted in the creation of their very own miniature golf course and getting to have fun golfing.

Itβs Independence Day! Have a wonderful holiday!

Ritchie County students involved in the summer learning academy had a wonderful trip to Discovery World in Parkersburg on Tuesday. What a great facility to have so close to us. Kids of all ages enjoyed the day.

Learning becomes exciting when you tie it to real world experiences. Thatβs why these students at the summer academy are having a great time. They had the opportunity to make predictions about bowling pins, build bowling pins and even bowl with their very own pins.

How do you get students excited about the Summer Learning Academy? Let them visit Mrs. Westβs STEAM class and it is sure to do the trick. The series of lessons on bowling was not only engaging but educational. Students used science, mathematics, language, art and some technology skills as they learned all about bowling pins and bowling.

The Ritchie County Board of Education hosted the Ritchie County High School 4 x 400 relay team Monday evening. Congratulations to this team for thier first place finish in the 4 x 400 relay at the state track meet.

We are blessed in this county with many great people that are dedicated and hard working. We would like to take the time to recognize two of these hard working individuals. Heather Lafferre is our Teacher of the Year. Bonnie Holbert is the Service Person of the Year. They serve in this position for the 2023 - 2024 school year. Congratulations to both of these ladies. We want to thank them for all they have done and continue to do for the students of Ritchie County.
