On Wednesday, October 16th, Ms. Holberton's Kindergarten Class at HES completed a scavenger hunt. Fire Safety Week was this past week, so raise awareness and educate the children about fire safety Ms. Holberton organized an activity to ensure the children were prepared in case of an emergency. Ms. Holberton invited Mr. Weekley, our School Safety Director, to participate and accompany their class on the event at school. Due to prior obligations, our WV State Fire Marshall, Mark Stewart, was unable to attend. However, Mr. Stewart sent a message to Mr. Weekley to relay to the class about the importance of having a working fire detector on each floor of the home. He also stated the importance of practicing fire drills with your families so everyone knows where to go and how to meet up in the event of a fire at your home. Mr. Stewart also wanted families to know that if they did not have a working smoke detector on each floor of their home, the American Red Cross can provide them to families to help keep them safe. Thanks so much to Ms. Holberton, Mr. Weekley and Mr. Stewart for making this a successful learning opportunity for the children.
