2022 West Virginia PTA Scholarship

Application deadline:  December 31, 2021

The West Virginia PTA is proud to announce that five $500 scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors in 2022. Scholarships will be presented to all winners in April of 2022. Underwood-Smith Teaching Scholars Program – Application deadline:  December 31st 

The Underwood-Smith Teaching Scholars Program is a competitive scholarship for recent high school graduates with a passion for teaching and a history of high academic achievement, community service, and active involvement in extracurricular activities while in high school. Recipients will receive $10,000 per year for up to four years (up to the cost of tuition and fees, room and board, and other approved educational expenses). In exchange, Underwood-Smith Teaching Scholars must agree to teach in a West Virginia public school in an area of critical need (math, science, elementary education, or special education) for a period of five years after graduating from college. CSTA/ACM Cutler-Bell Prize

Application deadline:  January 10, 2022, at 9 a.m.

The 2021-2022 Cutler-Bell Prize application is now open and available for senior high school students in the U.S. to apply. The program seeks to promote and encourage computer science and empower young and aspiring learners to pursue computing challenges outside the traditional classroom environment.

  1. Share the following with your students, colleagues, and contacts: CSTA has opened applications for the 2021-2022 Cutler-Bell Application, which looks to recognize up to four high school senior students residing in the U.S. for their projects in CS. Winners will receive a $10,000 prize to go to their college/university of choice.

Claire M. LaPlante Engineering Scholarship

Application deadline:  February 21st of each year.

The Claire M. LaPlante Engineering Scholarship will award $50,000 to one (1) West Virginia resident completing high school and attending West Virginia University’s Benjamin M. WVU’s S-STEM Scholarship Program

Application deadline:  First consideration given to applications submitted before May 15th or December 15th.

WVU's Department of Physics and Astronomy received an NSF S-STEM grant to support WV students to study physics with a computational area of emphasis at WVU with a scholarship of up to $10,000 a year for up to 4 years. The scholarship may be awarded to high school seniors applying to WVU and current physics students at WVU. The goal of the program is to increase the number of West Virginians pursuing high-tech careers in physics and computer science. While applications are considered year-round, those submitted before May 15th or December 15th will receive first consideration. Scholarship Name: RevenueZen Social Selling Scholarship

Scholarship Description: The RevenueZen Social Selling Scholarship is an award for any current or soon-to-be undergrad who is looking to innovate the hiring process. In an ideal world, what would hiring and applying for a job look like? How will you stand out? The RevenueZen Scholarship has a brief submission process, and applicants will be judged on their ability to convey their idea for an innovative social selling process focused on getting hired at a specific company.

  • The Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation on-line Scholarship application will be available Nov. 1 at www.tgkvf.org the application deadline is Jan. 15.

 

  • United States JCI Senate Foundation Scholarship for Students from West Virginia-Application is online at www.usicisenate.org It is a $1,000 scholarship for a high school senior from the state of WV that is going on to college, universities, or vocational schools.

 

  • The American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program- Contest Open to all 9th-12th grades. "A Constitutional Speech Contest". See file above for details. www.wvlegion.org

 

  • BIG SUN Scholarship- $500 award to continue to assist young athletes in their academic pursuits, all student athletes are eligible for this award. Apply at http://www.bigsunathletics.com

  • National Honor Society Scholarship-- Go to https://aim.applyists.net/NHS, create an account using your e-mail address. If you are prompted for a Program Key, enter NHS. You can log in to your account to make changes until January 28. The student portion of the form will be read-only after January 28. Complete the nomination form. On the recommendations tab, enter the name and e-mail address of your NHS adviser (or guidance counselor) for the corresponding verification, recommendation, and electronic signature request. ISTS will send an automated e-mail to them with instructions and a code to complete the verification, recommendation, and electronic signature. Enter the name and e-mail address of your principal in the corresponding recommendation and electronic signature request. ISTS will send an automated e-mail to him or her with instructions and a code to complete the recommendation and electronic signature. Before February 4, confirm that both your adviser and principal have completed their portions. You can log in to your account at anytime to check the status.

 

  • "Aspiring Pharmacy Technician" Scholarship Program. We are offering high school seniors the opportunity to win a $1,000 scholarship.   • The Mission West Virginia Scholarship Program will provide at least two scholarships this year to help youth who experienced a foster care placement for 12 months OR youth who had a parent incarcerated for 12 months during their childhood.
