The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation College Scholarship Program is an undergraduate scholarship program available to high-achieving high school seniors with financial need who seek to attend the nation’s best four-year colleges and universities.

Cooke College Scholars receive up to $40,000 per year, college planning support, ongoing advising, and the opportunity to network with the larger Cooke Scholar community.

This scholarship program encourages students to use the Khan Academy to improve their SAT test scores, which compliments West Virginia’s utilization of the SAT as an 11th-grade assessment. More information is available at

Requirements:         - Applicant must be enrolled in and plan to attend a college/university during the 2018-2019 school year.

Friends of the Hughes River Watershed Association, Inc. is dedicated to the  

preservation and improvement of the Hughes River Watershed. This scholarship

is offered to a graduating senior of Ritchie County High School that is planning to

attend college to pursue a science related field, or a graduate of RCHS currently

attending college in a science related field of study. The scholarship will be in the amount

of $500.00. – See application below 

SeniorAdvisor.comFuture of Assisted Living Scholarship. Three $2,000 scholarships available to students enrolled in an associate's degree, bachelor's degree or graduate level program at an accredited 2-year college or 4-year university. Each eligible student must submit a 500-750 word essay response to the question: How can your major of study improve the lives of seniors in assisted living facilities in your town? Deadline is December 31, 2017. Scholarship award recipients will be announced January 31, 2018. 

The Swing of Things scholarship is geared it towards students transitioning into college. Students can enter by writing a short essay describing what they expect to change going to college and how they will adapt. It is a $500 scholarship awarded to one winner annually. United States JCI Senate Foundation Scholarship for Students from West Virginia-Application is online at It is a $1,000 scholarship for a high school senior from the state of WV that is going on to college, universities, or vocational schools.

Our Community’s Foundation

The following provides a list of scholarships available through Our Community’s Foundation – the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation and the Regional Affiliates of Doddridge, Jackson, Mason, and Ritchie Counties and the Little Kanawha Area (Wirt and Calhoun) and the eligibility for all scholarships. Unless otherwise noted, students may apply for all of these scholarships through the Foundation’s online general application form, available on our web site at A few scholarships have separate, paper application forms; these are noted below.

Louise Mason Scholarship
Nursing students, with preference to applicants who have an affiliation with Camden Clark Medical Center, including the Memorial Campus and the St. Joseph’s Campus, in Parkersburg, WV.
Previous recipients of this scholarship may reapply for consideration with new applicants.

SDR Scholarship
Applicant must be a dependent or grandchild of an employee, a dependent or grandchild of a retiree, or an employee of SDR Plastics, Inc. or its subsidiaries (Star Plastics & SDR Technologies).
Recipients must have graduated (or be graduating) from a high school with at least a 2.0 GPA and be admitted to a post-high school educational institution, such as a college, university, technical/trade/vocational/business school.
Selection based on financial need; preference given to students with a strong record of community service.
Previous recipients of this scholarship may reapply for consideration with new applicants.

Simonton Windows Scholarship
Applicants must be dependent children of employees of Simonton Windows or SimEx.
Selection based on financial need, academic achievement, and leadership abilities and activities.

MENSA Scholarship--
Vandalia Mensa is participating in the Mensa Education and Research Foundation's local scholarship program. We invite applications for scholarships in this year's program.

  • The only eligibility requirements are that the applicant will be enrolled in a degree program in an accredited American institution of post-secondary education in the 2018-2019 academic year, and that the applicant is a citizen or a permanent resident of the United States. For the general awards, the applicant need not be a member of Mensa nor qualified for Mensa. The general awards are unrestricted as to age, race, gender, level of post-secondary education, or financial need.
  • Awards will be made on the basis of an essay of fewer than 550 words, which describes the applicant's career, vocational, or academic goal toward which the scholarship is to provide aid. Entries will be judged and awarded at three levels: local, regional, and national. Awards are made in amounts ranging from $200 to $1000.

National Honor Society Scholarship-- Go to, create an account using your e-mail address. If you are prompted for a Program Key, enter NHS. You can log in to your account to make changes until January 28. The student portion of the form will be read-only after January 28. Complete the nomination form. On the recommendations tab, enter the name and e-mail address of your NHS adviser (or guidance counselor) for the corresponding verification, recommendation, and electronic signature request. ISTS will send an automated e-mail to them with instructions and a code to complete the verification, recommendation, and electronic signature. Gene Haas Foundation Donates $1 Million to the SME Education Foundation for Machining and Manufacturing Scholarships - Gene Haas Foundation Board Chair Bob Murray presented a check to Kathy Burnham of the SME (Society of Manufacturing Engineers) Education Foundation, which will administer the scholarship fund. The application process is online and opens on September 1, 2014. The SME Education Foundation expects to award 950 to 1,000 scholarships this year, exhausting the $1,000,000 grant. To be eligible, applicants must be pursuing an associate’s degree or technology certificate and have a high school diploma or GED certificate

Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation Scholarship for High School Seniors

The Coca-Cola Scholars Program Scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors each year. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, and their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. It is our privilege to award over $3 million annually in scholarships to these young leaders.

"Aspiring Pharmacy Technician" Scholarship Program. We are offering high school seniors the opportunity to win a $1,000 scholarship. This will be awarded to students that are interested in pursuing a pharmacology career path at an accredited post-secondary school or college. For more information

This is a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to students that are interested in pursuing a business degree at any accredited post-secondary school or college. The Mission West Virginia Scholarship Program will provide at least two scholarships this year to help youth who experienced a foster care placement for 12 months OR youth who had a parent incarcerated for 12 months during their childhood.
